How to get urgent mental health support now

In a crisis, or know someone in crisis? Need someone to talk to? For 24/7 to listen and determine how best to help. Call for free on 111, select option 2 for the mental health option. You can also call the Samaritans on 116 123.

Call 999 or go to the emergency department now if:

  • someone's life is at risk, for example they have seriously injured themselves or taken an overdose
  • you do not feel you can keep yourself or someone else safe

A mental health emergency will be taken as seriously as a physical one. You will not be wasting anyone's time. 

Your GP can advise you about helpful treatments and help you access mental health services. You may be able to refer yourself to some services.
